Gertie is a sweet and tiny senior lady that was dumped at the local shelter and for the life of us, we can't figure out why. This little girl is affectionate, calm, well mannered, and loves to play with her humans with a ball or stuffed toy.
Gertie also seems to be extremely reliable about going potty outside and even though she doesn't see as well as her foster brothers and sister, she's even learned to use the doggie door. Gertie
is hard of hearing, but comes when her foster mom whistles for her and is happy to join the chorus, when the other dogs in her home decide there is something to bark about. She will occasionally talk to you when she's excited or
sad, but other than that, she's a quiet girl. Gertie gets along VERY well with other dogs and has excellent doggie manners. She enjoys sleeping with her human brother every night and loves to snuggle with people on the couch any time there is a lap available.
Gertie also seems to enjoy going for walks and gets very excited when it looks like she might get to go somewhere. We recently had her to the vet for full blood work and will be taking her in for a dental very soon.
Gertie has a lot of love left to give and would love to give it to you!
Update 4/26/08: Gertie went in for her dental and cyst removal yesterday. The dental went great and she had no teeth pulled. We are concerned about the cyst and have sent it in to be biopsied. Gertie also had a hard time coming out of anesthesia and
the doctor said she shouldn't be put under again. However, when I got this little girl home, she bounced around the yard as if nothing had happened and demanded her dinner along with everyone else. Someone forgot to
tell her to feel bad I guess. Here's some pictures of her in her dress. We need to protect her stitches and decided to be stylish about it!
Update 4/30/08: Gertie's cyst test results came back fine! No cancer! She's also gotten a "summer shave" and is feeling quite frisky. We're working on building up her little leg muscles with evening walks. She's such a happy girl and a real gem. :-)
