Parker is 100% dachshund boy! He is beautiful, smart, determined, curious, and ready to hunt something! He is very affectionate and friendly to people and
does well with other dogs, although sometimes he likes to be bossy if they have something he wants. We are currently working on his manners and making sure all his medical is taken care of. Parker will absolutely not work in a home with cats or any other small animals that could be viewed as prey.
Update 10/8/2009: We found out on 9/24/2009 that Parker had an irregular heartbeat when we took him in for an exam and dental. So, we found a cardiologist in Carlsbad, and on the 8th of October he got an exam,
blood work, echo-cardiogram, and a rhythm strip. The diagnosis was MVD (Mitral Valve Degeneration.)
The MVD doesn't affect him now (he has the vitality and energy of a puppy) and could not even be heard with the ear (only seen on the ultrasound). It might affect him in 3-4 years or,
best case scenario, it might stay like it is and never progress. His cardiologist said he would be happy to speak to potential adopters about Parker's prognosis and they even gave us a
CD containing the exam results and ultrasound. It doesn't affect his ability to go under anesthesia, exercise, play, or hunt for rabbits. :-)

Update 10/30/2010: Parker went to his forever home today! This special boy went to a family that is already familiar with MVD and they welcomed him with open arms and hearts. We got a happy surprise before he went home
in the form of an EXCELLENT checkup with the cardiologist at UC Davis. They said his condition has not changed in the last year and that everything looked very good. :) SO, he's going to his new
family with a clean bill of health and very clean and healthy teeth from his recent dental. :) He's got two new doxie brothers and a cat that he needs to learn is his brother too! His human family has two beautiful
young ladies and a mom and dad that are looking forward to giving him all the care and affection he needs for many years to come. He looks like he's been in their arms and a part of their family forever already!
